APLU Responds to CEA about the Innovation Act

The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities responded to a call from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) to reconsider their opposition to House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte’s Innovation Act. In a letter to CEA, the university group’s Presidents Peter McPherson and Hunter Rawlings wrote “we strongly agree that Congress should address the bad actors in the patent system… But we remain equally firm in our view that legislative efforts to curtail troll abuses should be narrowly tailored to address the abuses of this small minority of patent holders. … After careful and extensive study... we strongly believe H.R. 9 fails this test.”
